Meet Our Doctors


Katherine Ratliff - DVM

Dr. Ratliff was born and raised in Bakersfield, where she attended Edison School and graduated from Foothill High School in 1970. She went on to Cal State Bakersfield and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biology with a minor in Chemistry in 1974. From there she went to UC Davis from which she graduated in 1978 with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM).

 

She came home and has been at Animal Emergency and Urgent Care ever since. She began as an associate in 1978 and purchased it in 1983. Dr. Ratliff is a member of the AVMA, CVMA, KCVMA and the Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Society. Her goal is to provide quality emergency, urgent and critical care to the pets that are presented to the hospital.

 

In her spare time Dr. Ratliff likes to cook, hike, ride horses, read and snow ski. She has two dogs, two cats, two horses, and a blue & gold macaw.  She has been married to the same all around Good Guy, Mark, for over 20 years and they have one son, Carl.  

 


Allyson Hannan - DVM

Dr. Hannan received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the University of California at Davis in 2002. Prior to that she obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Biology from the University of California at Santa Cruz in 1997.

Dr. Hannan is a member of The Veterinary Emergency And Critical Care Society, The International Veterinary Radiology Association, and the AVMA.

She resides with her husband Scott, a devoted father who works in the human emergency medical field, and their two sons. The four legged family members includes cats: Isabelle, a 10 year-old gray and white DSH, Clover, a crazy 10 year-old tortie who was bottle fed, and Gracie, an 9 year-old white DSH. Dogs: Sweet ol' Charlie, a 9-10 year-old pomeranian mix that was adopted as a stray. Occasionally Charlie can be spotted around the hospital when he comes to visit.

When Allyson is not working or chasing after her two young sons, she enjoys quilting, scrapbooking, and cooking. 


Bob Maruna - DVM   

 

Dr. Maruna graduated from The Ohio State University, College of Veterinary Medicine in 1996 and has spent the last 14 years of practice in emergency and critical care settings. He lives in Pasadena with his wife, Diana, and three daughters, Katie, Jennie Rose, and Josephine.

He is a member of the AVMA and VECCS. His professional interests include trauma surgery, nutritional management of critically ill patients, and fluid therapy.
